Autumn colours in Verzenay

Our cold weather really crept in last week.  Although everyone here laughs at me when I say it is cold!  (Sunday was only 10°C and it was raining all the day - so we went to the movies again, watched another movie with French subtitles, I think the English title will be something like 'the pig of Gaza'.  Also a movie from the Cannes festival and worth seeing!)
I had to take some photos of the autumn colours before it's completely gone, so I had to rush off last week when the rain stopped for a while.  Unfortunatley it was already a few days after the peak.  The forest will probably reach its peak in the next two weeks, always a bit slower than the vineyards.  These photos will give you an idea of our scenery when we do mountain biking in the vineyards.  Not always so easy, as the roads are uneven and some areas are a bit rocky.  When I want to admire the surroundings, I just get off the bike and push it, sometimes to poor JL's frustration as he is trying to get some exercise, but gentleman as he is, he'll always wait for me.
Verzenay, the village between the moulin and the phare...
and the forest above
and the champagne vineyards
The volume of champagne production is strictly controlled, so you can still find grapes in the vineyards - more than a month after the end of the harvesting.  This is mainly pinot noir region.
one of many champagne houses
and finally, an example of a small street (no, it is not a one way street...)
